FORTHCOMING INTERNET SITE TO HELP JOB SEEKERS FIND WORK ONLINE

OTTAWA (October 22, 1998) - A new Internet site will help Canadians easily find online employment sites. The site, to be called The Job Bus, will include a search engine and directory of Canadian employment sites.

The site is run by Farfan, an Ottawa Internet media firm well known for its Canadian and International search engines and directories.

Administrator Sara Parent says there was a need for a site like this. "I kept sending links to friends who were looking for work. And the list kept growing. The number of people I know who are looking for work is constantly growing as well."

The site, which will officially launch on November 2nd, is the first of its kind in Canada. "There are plenty of employment sites around. But we have put them together as an organized directory, which is searchable by keywords and province" said Parent.

The site manager is Luc Theriault, owner of Farfan. He is known in the Internet industry as a columnist and author of "Confused? A Kid's Guide to the Internet's World Wide Web."

"Sara has done a great job of getting the site up and going. She really understands the needs of job-seekers, and the search engine reflects that" said Theriault.

The site also includes general job search information such as regular articles. They are written by a number of people, including Job Bus staff and outside contributors. "For example, we have a disabled person writing some material geared to those with special needs who are looking for work." said Theriault.

One interactive feature on the site is an online poll. Poll questions are fun and interesting. For example, the November question is "Have you ever quit a job on the first day?" Users can cast their vote, and get an instant update of the results.

The final results are also included in an electronic newsletter, sent at no charge to users of the site who request it.

The site aims to be a one stop resource for finding a job. "We are aiming to make The Job Bus the first site that users will visit each time they start their online job search." said Parent.

The site will launch on November 2, 1998, but Internet users can already find a preview of the site at www.JobBus.com to get a head start on their job search.
